For the past couple of days, I have been spring cleaning and purging my closet, desk, and even my laptop of unnecessary things or things that I will never use.
Inevitably, I run across clothes that I never wore, books that will not make it to my TBR piles, a couple of bottles of expired medication. Then again, I run across that magazine that I’ve never read but the cover looks so tantalizing, that shirt that I’ve never worn but should wear (after all, I bought for a reason!), that can of whatever that I will never eat and is getting close to its expiration date.
Inevitably, I do purge. I live in a small space and I don’t want my house to resemble one of those reality shows where someone comes in and cleans up a house in squalor.
It never gets that bad but I do have to usually do a summer purge, a fall purge, and even a winter purge.
I am fond of my possessions and I do like it when I find random stuff.
My grandmother kept an immaculate house with not a thing out of place but…
Maybe it’s an archive thing to me; I want to keep some sort of record of the time that I’ve spent on this planet, of the type of person that I am and was.
Or maybe I am just a packrat.
Or maybe both things are true. But it does get frustrating

Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down. Please remember that comment inclusion in Top Comments does not constitute support or endorsement by diarist, formatter, Top Comments writers or DailyKos. Questions, complaints or comments? From belinda ridgewood:
In annieli's overnight tfg diary, she noted Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick's opinion that 15% of the people commit 100% of the crime (so if you just lock up that 15%...) Of course lineatus put her finger on an important issue with that idea.
Highlighted by Seashells:
This comment by Don Dumitru, noting how authoritarians would be powerless without their sycophants, from Walter Einenkel’s front page post Jury selections forces Trump to face people who don’t worship him.
